OffenderWatch: East Baton Rouge Sex Offender Search

East Baton Rouge Parish uses OffenderWatch, which the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office describes as "the nation's leading sex offender registry network." This platform lets local law enforcement manage registered sex offenders and gives residents a way to search their neighborhood. The EBRSO integrates OffenderWatch directly into their services tab, so you start at the sheriff's site and get sent to the search portal from there.

The OffenderWatch portal for East Baton Rouge Parish offers several ways to search. You can look up an offender by name, enter an address and pick a radius to see who lives or works nearby, or filter by city or ZIP code. The map view pins each offender's location so you can see the full picture at a glance. Click any pin to pull up a full profile with a photo, physical description, offense details, conviction date, risk level, and compliance status. Work and school addresses show on profiles where they apply.

OffenderWatch also has an email alert system. Residents can sign up to get notifications when a sex offender moves into a set radius around their home. This is free and only requires an email address to set up.

To use the portal: visit EBRSO.org, click the Services tab, choose Sex Offender Registry, accept the terms, and run your search. The Louisiana State Police registry is also available if you want to cross-check a name or look at statewide results.

Sex Offender Registration Laws in Louisiana

Registration requirements for sex offenders in Louisiana come from RS 15:540 and the statutes that follow it through RS 15:549. These laws cover who must register, for how long, how often they check in, and what information they must provide each time. The rules apply to anyone convicted of a qualifying sex offense in Louisiana, as well as people who move to Louisiana after a conviction elsewhere.

Louisiana places offenders into three tiers. Tier I offenders register for 15 years and check in once per year. Tier II offenders register for 25 years and check in every six months. Tier III offenders, those convicted of the most serious crimes, must register for life and check in every 90 days. The court sets the tier at sentencing based on offense type and prior record.

Under RS 15:542, offenders must report any change within 3 business days. This includes new addresses, job changes, school enrollment or withdrawal, new vehicles, and changes to phone numbers, email addresses, or social media accounts. Missing this window is a felony. Offenders in East Baton Rouge Parish must register with the Louisiana State Police, the EBRSO, and any local police department in the city where they live, work, or go to school.

Public access to registry data is granted under RS 15:541. State law is clear that using this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass a registrant or their family members may result in criminal prosecution or civil liability. The registry is for awareness, not confrontation.

What East Baton Rouge Parish Registry Records Include

Each offender profile in the East Baton Rouge registry includes a photo, full legal name, known aliases, physical description, and current residential address. Employer name and address appear when the offender is employed. School enrollment shows up when it applies. The profile also lists the offense description, the statute violated, the conviction date, the assigned risk level, and current compliance status.

Vehicle information is included on most profiles. Not every field is complete on every record. If an offender is homeless, a general location may appear in place of a street address. Older convictions from other states may have limited offense detail depending on how that state's records were shared.

OffenderWatch pulls from data submitted by local and state agencies. There can be a short delay between when a change is reported and when it shows online. For the most current status on a specific person, call the EBRSO at (225) 389-5000 during business hours.

The Louisiana State Police also maintains a phone line for registry inquiries at 1-800-858-0551, available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CDT. Written requests can be mailed to: Louisiana State Police, Sex Offender Registry, P.O. Box 66614, Box A-6, Baton Rouge, LA 70896.

Note: If you believe a record is wrong or that someone has failed to register, contact the EBRSO at (225) 389-5000 or call the LSP hotline.
