The registry covers offenders who live in St. Martin Parish, as well as those who work or attend school here but live elsewhere. Under Louisiana law, registration requirements apply wherever an offender has a regular presence, not only at their home address. This means the St. Martin Parish registry may include people whose residential address is in another parish.
Note: The OffenderWatch map view is the fastest way to check a specific neighborhood. The name search works best if you already know who you are looking for.
Registration Requirements in St. Martin Parish
St. Martin Parish follows the same registration rules as all other Louisiana parishes. As stated on the sheriff's website: "If convicted of a sex offense on or after June 18, 1992, or committed prior to June 18, 1992, if the person, as a result of the offense, is under the custody of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections on or after June 18, 1992." The requirement also applies to anyone convicted under the laws of another state, the military, tribal courts, or federal law if the offense is equivalent to a qualifying Louisiana offense.
The rule is direct: the offender must register with three agencies. State Police is one. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is two. The local police department in the city where the offender lives, works, or goes to school is three. Missing any of the three is a separate criminal violation. Registration must happen within 3 business days of release from prison, within 3 business days of entering Louisiana, or within 3 business days of changing an address.
